Essie Country’s Real Country Music Song of the Week November 8-14, 2026
Leave the Lovin’ By Dillon Carmichael Released October 22, 2021
Intro by Gene Johns
It’s hard to believe I haven’t featured “Leave the Lovin’” as an Essie Country Song of the Week before now, especially since I’ve had it in my “On Deck” folder for quite some time.
I guess that’s a reflection of just how many great country songs I discover that Nashville ignores.
Dillon Carmichael delivers a real country vocals performance of a well-crafted song, anchored by perfectly placed steel guitar accompaniment throughout.
This country-style love song has an infectious rhythm that will have you singing along with every beat of the drum. And if you can’t sing along with the words, you’ll have no trouble humming along with the melody.
“Leave the Lovin’” is the complete country love story. It has lying, dogs, trains, planes, a Greyhound bus, drunks, whiskey, a hardheaded fool and hurtin’. Yet somehow, it all comes down to lovin’ and kissin’. Only real country music can give us a story like that!
So turn off that pop-country radio station, click on the link below, and hear why “Leave the Lovin’” was selected as this week’s Essie Country’s Real Country Song of the Week.
